I have a short and sweet review for a short and sweet little game, Why am I Dead. I was introduced to this little gem through Kotaku’s article about the game’s sequel, Why am I Dead at Sea. In this retro-looking game, you play as the spirit of a recently killed hotel owner on a mission to find out who turned you into a bloody mess. As a rogue detective spirit, you can possess others and control their bodies, allowing you to travel throughout the hotel and engage in dialogue as anyone you wish.
This is a very short game, and it isn’t without its buggy flaws, but I thought the clever mechanics (while not unique, this was pretty well done) and story were very much worth twenty minutes of my time. I look forward to the sequel, which is currently on Steam Greenlight.
